What is the Best Pain Killer for Shoulder Pain?

Honestly, I just love plain old ibuprofen.

You have to be careful with NSAIDs. Obviously, they’re over the counter. If you’re gonna take it at a prescription strength level, which is 800mg three times a day, you need to make sure you don’t have any kidney issues or stomach issues. You need to run it by a physician, your primary care doctor, or another physician you’re seeing because it can cause GI bleeding. It can cause kidney issues, and if you have those baselines, they can be a dangerous drug.

But in terms of all the over-the-counter medicines, I love ibuprofen. I also love ice. People don’t ice their shoulder down enough when it’s sore. Ice can be very potent. So, put ice on your shoulder down 3 to 4 times daily.

I do cold plunge therapy for my whole body. But if it’s just your shoulder, ice it down 3 to 4 times daily. You can take up to four ibuprofen as long as it’s approved by a physician. Those can be pretty potent painkillers.
